Avant le départ de la Mongolia Bike Challenge
Nous atterrissons à Oulan-Bator, la capitale de Mongolie. La réputation de ville la plus moche du monde est visuellement frappante à l’atterrissage. Immeubles bétonnés au style soviétique, brouillard de pollution flottant au-dessus des buildings de verre et comme des bidonvilles, les Gers district tapissent la périphérie de la Capitale. Malgré cette réputation, l’horizon des steppes est un appel à l’aventure quand on prend de la hauteur.
Conduit depuis l’aéroport jusqu’à l’hôtel de résidence des coureurs, nous déballons de nos housses nos vélos. Certains sont là pour la deuxième ou troisième fois. Une ambiance solidaire et familiale s’installe.
John, Kia et moi depuis Zaisan Memorial
J’ai une première sympathie avec Rodrigo Carozo et Mario Marito. Ce sont deux Costa-Ricain venus entre amis participer à ce challenge. Dans la soirée, je ferai connaissance avec Kia King, sa maman et John Da Costa. Également venu en ami, Jenny la maman de Kia participe pour la deuxième fois à la Mongolia Bike Challenge et a accompagné sa fille à réaliser ce challenge. Et quel Challenge, c’est la première course de VTT pour Kia. Et elle réalisera des performances exceptionnelles. Nul doute quel a pris goût à l’aventure.
Willy Mulonia présente son équipe
Après la distribution des plaques de numéro de course, le directeur de course Willy Mulonia a présenté avec fierté son équipe et un aperçu des étapes à venir. Les membres de l’équipage de Willy nous ont présenté les règles logistiques et de la course.
Si notre connexion mobile était inexistante ou pauvre, l’équipe de la Mongolia Bike Challenge maintenait les nouvelles au monde via une connexion par satellite.
Avec Kia, Jenny et John, nous prenons un dernier diner au restaurant Rosewood. C’est un restaurant très prisé de Oulan-Bator.
Les affaires sont prêtes. Samedi 13 août, nous quitterons la confortable literie de notre hôtel pour celle notre Ger Camp.
De la ville aux steppes, la fracture sera ouverte vers un infini potentiel d’image et d’histoire à créer.

Before the departure of the Mongolia Bike Challenge
We land in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The reputation of the ugliest city in the world is visually striking at the landing. Concrete buildings in the Soviet style, mist of pollution floating above glass buildings and like slums, the Gers district line the periphery of the Capital. Despite this reputation, the horizon of the steppes is a call to adventure when you take the height.
Driving from the airport to the residence hotel of the runners, we unpack our bags our bicycles. Some are there for the second or third time. A solidarity and family atmosphere is established.
John, Kia et moi depuis Zaisan Memorial
I have a first sympathy with Rodrigo Carozo and Mario Marito. Two Costa Ricans came with their friends to take part in this challenge. In the evening, I will meet Kia King, her mom and John Da Costa. Also coming as a friend, Jenny Kia’s mom participates for the second time at the Mongolia Bike Challenge and has accompanied her daughter to carry out this challenge. And what a Challenge is the first mountain bike race for Kia. And it will achieve exceptional performance. There is no doubt that it took a taste for adventure.
Willy Mulonia présente son équipe
After the race number plates were distributed, race director Willy Mulonia proudly presented his team and an overview of the next steps. The crew members of Willy introduced us to the logistical and racing rules.
If our mobile connection was non-existent or poor, the Mongolia Bike Challenge team kept the news to the world via a satellite connection.
With Kia, Jenny and John, we have a last dinner at the Rosewood Restaurant. It is a popular restaurant in Ulaanbaatar.
My clothes are ready. Saturday, August 13, we will leave the comfortable bedding of our hotel for that our Ger Camp.
From the city to the steppes, the fracture will be open to an infinite potential of image and history to create.
