Haute Route Alps Huez with the team Café du cycliste

These are links that have been established on the Haute Route. We met to participate in the inaugural edition of the Haute Route Alpes d’Huez. From 12 to 14 July 2017, Cédrik Dubois, Richard Scales, Cyril Tiné and I will form the Café du Cycliste team.

Cédrik Dubois and Richard Scales are the ambassadors of the clothing brand Café du Cycliste. This brand is located on the Côte d’Azur, in a typical café nestled in the hills of the hinterland. More than the branding team, we chose this name for the image “French Touch” and friendly to meet around a coffee in cyclist clothing.

The Haute Route Alpes d’Huez

This new Haute Route offers 3 timed stages including 1 time trial for a total of 248 kilometers and 8700 meters of uneven.

Wednesday evening, we will start from the Bourg d’Oisans for a time-trial of the mythical 21 laces of the Alpes d’Huez.

The second stage will take us on a loop of 152 kilometers marked by the ascents of the Glandon, the Cross of Iron and the Alpe d’Huez by Villard-Reculas, for a cumulative difference of 4300 meters.

The third stage is the shortest. It cumulates 80 kilometers and 3260 meters of uneven. From the Bourg d’Oisans we will climb the 2 Alpes, followed by the Col du Sarenne to Lake Besson in 2074 meters to conclude this triptych.

One thing reasoning in common for the team. Its international dimension, logistics, format, the service offered by “just like the pros”, its concept in stages makes it an unforgettable experience.

Winner of the Haute Route Pyrenees 2016, Cédrik is the natural leader of the team. He is the ambassador of the clothing ” Café du Cycliste”. Experienced rider, humble, he is the perfect model of the chic and efficient cyclosportive.

I ride on a lightweight bike equipped with sram etap and carbon tubeless wheels. I use a gear in 54-42 in osymetric trays and a cassette of 11-27.

My pronostic on time trial

This climb will be a discovery. I’d like to do it under 46 minutes.

How the Haute Route is different ?

The Haute Route is a little different for several reasons. It is one of the few (even if other tests begin) to run in stages and the vast majority of participants are foreigners. The logistics and organizing team is very large around the runners in order to facilitate everyday life as the management of luggage and bicycles. Moreover, no risk is taken for the participants. Some parts are neutralized (generally 1 or 2 descents per stage). This allows you to blow, refuel and regroup.

Nicolas is in the history of the Haute Route. He has participated in all editions of Haute Route since their creation under the colors of the Specialized brand. Winner of the triple Haute Route 2016, winners of stages and teams in each edition, his endurance is his strength.

I will be using the same bike that won me the Triple Haute Route 2017. This year, my S-Works Tarmac Disc equipped with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 transmission and a pair of CLX 32 wheels with Cotton tires. I use Rotor oval trays in 52 * 36 and a cassette 11-27.

My pronostic on time trial

I have for reference the same time-trial made during the Haute Route 2012. My wish is to spend under 50 minutes

How the Haute Route is different ?

The Haute Route is distinguished by its offer of service and its concept of “just like the pros”. The concept in stages is seductive and allows to highlight the qualities of endurance and recovery. We go to the end of ourselves and learn about our abilities. It advances and opens us to the world from all the nationalities represented. It is very enriching.

Richard Scales

Richard says Rich ‘participated in the very first edition of the Haute Route in the Alps in 2011 and remained faithful every year. Regularly placed, regular, his good humor, his smile, his strength makes him a pillar of the team.

I’m riding on a Canyon Ultimate CF EVO with 52/36 in the front and 11/25 at the back

My pronostic on time trial

I did 49:19 during the time trial stage of the 2012 Haute Route, but being 5 years older, I would just like to be close to 50 minutes.

How the Haute Route is different ?

For me, the Haute Route has always been the best sporting event of the year.  Multiple stages, great organisation, post-race meals and massages, and of course the riders all work together to make it a great event.  It’s really the closest an amateur rider can come to experience what it would be like to be a pro.

Cyril Tiné

The most Pyrenean Rhone-Alpine who always has the word to laugh. Laughter and good atmosphere are to be expected at the terrace of the Café du Cycliste!

All beautiful, brand new (after destroying the brand new very beautiful (also) at the Grand Bo)! I ride with a Canyon Ultimate CF SLX in Durace – Plates 53/38 (I have removed a tooth this year … we age!) In oval …

My pronostic on time trial

No idea of my climbing time … I come especially to put myself in the hard.

How the Haute Route is different ?

The Haute Route is different from other sports cyclists in its organization, its size. But that does not change anything in my sporting approach.
